Overall, excellent trip, good service, very knowledgeable and professional guide. Bring proper shoes, as hiking here can get messy with English weather. White Cliffs were beautiful, but wish could have time to hike longer than 20 min. It was Halloween weekend, so kids and parents made long lineups to visit tunnels.
Dover Castle, another historic place, again 2 hours not enough to cover its huge grounds. Tour guide, Brendan gives you excellent background information before you arrive. This was mostly independent tour, where you are dropped off to explore on your own. I was only able to visit Canterbury Tales site. 2 hours seemed a lot, but Canterbury Cathedral walk took over an hour, so not much time left to explore the town. Canterbury Cathedral was magnificent and I learned quite a bit about English history and religion. His knowledge was impeccable and he shared a lot.

Brendan, our tour guide and driver lived up to expectations. I like taking these day tours as English tour guides are excellent. This is an excellent tour for history buffs, nature lovers if you want to cover a lot in a day. Pickup was smooth from a bus stop outside London Bridge Station. This is a packed trip around historic places. We hope you can travel with us again sometime. There are two small cafes at Dover Castle but Canterbury is definitely the better dining experience! He tried to call you and was a bit worried you wouldn't make it back to the coach for departure, however you did and it was all ok. The driver guide walked the rest of the group there and he gave your name to the people on the door of the cathedral so they would let you in as part of the tour group. We are pleased to hear you found your way to the cathedral after you separated from the group.

Unfortunately there is not time to do this plus Canterbury and Dover Castle in one day. However in good weather it would be possible to spend a whole day at the cliffs, hiking along the top, going down to the beach or even to the Fan Bay war tunnels deep in the chalk cliffs. It is meant as a 45 minute stop between attractions where you can take photos and enjoy the view. We are sorry to hear you felt there was not enough time at the White Cliffs. We are glad you found our guide very knowledgeable.
Thank you for your review of our Canterbury and Dover tour. I would recommend doing this tour during the spring or summer rather since the days are much longer to have sunlight, in Nov after daylight savings the sun is setting at 4:30pmish. Lunch was hard to squeeze in without sacrificing time to see things so either bring snacks with you or plan to only eat at the end of the day (4pm or so) in Canterbury. Would’ve loved to see something more from Chaucer tales while I was there but didn’t seem like something that was close by to visit and make it back in time? Our guide was very knowledgeable about history and chatted to us on the bus there and back about our trip content or sites we were passing nearby, otherwise remained removed from the tour experience except for giving you some wrist bands. I explored it on my own and didn’t find much else outside of it to see for history, but again without a clue which ways to go (and little cell service on my part) I just stuck close and wandered around town to grab a drink and head back. Thankfully the lady whom worked there noticed what tour I was in from my email and let me in without much trouble.

I wasn’t quite sure how to make it to the cathedral from there and got a little lost for awhile but found my way eventually, and apparently we were supposed to meet up there for group entry. Canterbury is probably a much more interesting place to visit if you know what you’re doing or where you’re going but we were dropped off and told to just be back in 2 hours. Not enough time for both WWII tours if that’s what you want to see, but enough for one on their timed basis. I’m glad we had more time at the castle since I even felt running late there with all to walk around and see. Only got to see some beginning view points and no time to stop at the shop without being late. The trail, which goes a few different directions for view points and can go the lengths of the cliffs. Unfortunately, that was the least amount of time granted, with ~40 min to leave from the parking area to start the trail a ways up. My favorite part of this tour was definitely seeing the Cliffs. Unless you spend most of your day getting to explore each area alone it’s hard to feel like you’ve done all you wanted to do, but at least you got to see the main attractions. Decent tour to do to kill a day and see some sights.
